We sorted the picture cards and words. I got the print from Teach Mama.

Pinkalicious

If you look at the cover of the book, it looks like a princess book which I thought whether R will like it or not. But it is actually a book about a girl who eats lots of pancakes and then turns pink. It is really good book to teach kids about eating right. i discussed good eating habits with R through this book. He really enjoyed it a lot and asked to read it several times.

Wedgits and Pattern blocks

Wedgits are such good toys and R is really enjoying playing with them. It is so good to see him building different structures with these blocks.

We are also working on the pattern making with the pattern blocks. There are lots of pattern cards on www. prekinders.com and also avialable online to purchase from Amazon.

Thanksgiving themed art and activities

Art
1. Turkey - We made this turkey from a pinecone. We used the pinecone as the body and I had vut the head, beak, wattle and feet from the construction paper. Then we added feathers

2. Corn - I had cut the corn and the husk from the construction paper and R made kernels by finger painting them.

3. Cornucopia - Aren't these so nice? R made this from ripped tiisue papers for all his teachers at school. I got the cornucopia print frrom Lakeshore's teachers corner page.

Activities


1. Turkey clothespin - This is a good fine motor skill practice game. I got the idea and print from Pre-K pages.
Basically, you write the lowercase letters on the clothespin and then you have to pin the lowercase letters to the uppercase letters on the board.

2. Letter sound match - The idea actually came from Pre-K pages,  but I used the letter cards which I had printed before the prekinders.com. I had the prints of the turkey and I sticked letter stickers on them and I gave the picture cards to R to match the beginning sound to the letters on the turkey. It was fun.

3. Graph - I got this graph from www.heidisongs.com . It was a good sheet to explain more and less concepts to R.

The Little Red Hen

We read the story " The Little Red Hen " by Paul Galdone.

 It was a nice recap of the toddler version which we have read before. Then I asked R to sequence the story props which I got from kizclub.com. It was quite challenging for him with so many pictures but he did pretty good with little help from me.

What's missing?

I got the inspiration from this post on The Activity Mom blog.  You need some pictures ffrom your old magazines and cut some part of it to make it a Whats Missing game for your preschoolers. R really enjoye dthe game and we also did this game with the pictures which I drew in his easel.

Halloween activities

Besides the craft that we did, we also manage to get some other activities done.

1. R tonged the plastic spiders into a tray

2. I made some printable emergent reader books from makinglearningfun.com . R loves doing such small books.
This one is on spiders and the positional words like spider is above the bat. I gave R the spider stickers to use with.

The other one requires very minimal drawing like legs, head and eyes for the spiders. R enjoyed both the books.

4. Phonics Worksheet- In this R matched the picture with the word that they begin with. I got the sheet from here.

6. Itsy Bitsy Spider song and props - I printed the props from kizclub.
